The Thappad movie based on the social issue of marital abuse has released on 28th February 2020. The film stars Tapsee Pannu in the mail role, and other supporting casts of the movie includes some big names like Ratna Pathak Shah, Pavail Gulati, and Dia Mirza. The film is directed by Anubhav Sinha, produced by Krishan Kumar, Bhushan Kumar. And made under the banner of T-Series and Media Works.
The release date of the film was changed as it was planned to release in the first week of March. The music for the film was composed by Anurag Saikia, while the background score was prepared by Mngesh Dhakde. The film is edited and cinematographed by Yasha Ramchandi and Soumik Mukherjee.
The story of the movie revolves around a married woman Amrita who decides to take a divorce on account of her husband slapping her. The main plot of the movie is physical harassment. This is the bold attempt to make a movie on such a subject, now it depends on how the audience judges it.
